It’s always great to make changes to the design of your bathroom every few years, but knowing what to go for next can be a difficult decision to make. Sometimes we play it safe with the design, and go for subtle, basic colours like grey, but we think it’s time to change this and go for something a little more adventurous!
A little change can go a long way. Whether it’s changing the tiling, adding a pop of colour, or completely rearranging things, it’s surprisingly simple to make your bathroom look brand new. This year has seen quite a few common trends in bathroom design, and we’ve picked out a few of our favourites to hopefully give you some inspiration!
Metallic colours
Whether it’s incorporated through the tiling and on the wall, or through little accessories placed around the bathroom, metallic colours give off a really classy, chic look. It’s becoming more and more popular in modern trends and you don’t want to miss out. Whether you choose gold, silver, copper or rose gold, it makes the place look very glamorous, with an effective shiny and eye catching appearance. Your taps, units, shower and tiling are a few prime places to make your metallic theme prominent.
Patterned tiling
This year we’ve gotten slightly more adventurous with our tiling. Rather than going for plain, block colours, or subtle patterns, people are enjoying louder patterns in 2018, both on wall tiling and floor tiling. Forget the saying ‘less is more’ – patterned tiling will make your bathroom feel brand new and add a bit of character to the place!
Black and white
A black and white theme can be a little hit-and-miss sometimes, especially in bathrooms. However, if done well, if looks very impressive and sets the perfect tone. White brick walls have become popular throughout many homes over the last couple of years, and taking this into your bathroom is different, but a fantastic and worthwhile move to make. If you have a particularly small bathroom, we’d recommend that you avoid dark walls, as this will generally make it appear even smaller. Instead, go for white or cream coloured walls, with black units or accessories t complete the look.
Experimental lighting
There are so many different types of lighting you can have installed into your bathroom, and as much as you may not realise, it can actually really impact the whole appearance and atmosphere. For example, spotlights are really great for bathrooms. Something a little different that e’d recommend, is cabinet, mirror or accessory lighting. This means lighting around or underneath cabinets or other features in your bathroom, which will give you more light focused in that one particular area.
Blue
Blue is often associated with water, making it the perfect colour to cover your bathroom. It also gives off quite clean and calm vibes, which makes the mood of the bathroom more relaxed. If you use blue on your walls, we’d recommend going for a bit of a lighter shade so that it doesn’t make the room seem too small and closed in. however, you can still incorporate darker shades through things like accessories and bathroom units.
